Parents’ Action for Community and Education – PACE for short – is a volunteer organisation led by UWCSEA parents who are deeply committed to nurturing a strong sense of community and upholding the UWC mission of making education a force for peace and sustainability. We create opportunities for like-minded individuals from Dover and East campuses to connect and engage in social events and community service projects in Singapore and Malaysia that bring about positive and lasting change.
We strongly believe in the transformative power of a quality education. In partnership with two NGOs, and with support from the UWCSEA community, PACE is actively working to improve the futures of marginalised children in neighbouring countries:
- PACE Refugee Education supports secondary education for refugee children in Malaysia, primarily Rohingya youth.
- PACE Scholarships fund education and nutrition for children and college-age students in the Philippines.
At home, PACE offers a mix of activities to foster community spirit. Some are purely social, aimed at helping us bond and discover Singapore better – like heritage walks, cycling tours, and cooking classes. Then there are our local volunteering efforts like beach clean-ups, preparing meals for migrant workers, and escorting children from low-income families to the supermarket to buy food. These initiatives bring together UWCSEA parents, alumni, and families to make a real difference in the lives of others and in our environment. Just as importantly, they give us a chance to live the UWC mission alongside our children.
