• 2023 Highlights

Empowering refugees through education

Since forming a partnership with CSB in late 2022 we have achieved an incredible amount of progress toward our goal of transforming lives through a quality secondary education. These are some of the proudest achievements to date in 2023. 

Donations for Refugee Education

  • $94,500 given by UWCSEA families to fund the 2023 Refugee Education program
  • 60 computers donated by Standard Chartered and abrdn through UWCSEA parent connections
  • $4,500 raised by Dover CSB GC to build an AV Conference room
  • 150+ volunteer hours, equipment and resources donated by the Dover High School Science Team 

Enhancements to CSB Educational Capacity

  • Math and Science teachers were hired, 700 classes were taught and 50+ science experiments conducted 
  • Science Lab funded by PACE and created by Dover Science Teachers and Technicians
  • 25 IGCSE students were supported and 29 exam fees paid 
  • 2 Dover Teachers established a Grade 11 Mentoring program

Student Service

  • 30 Grade 11 Dover students delivering weekly online mentoring for CSB’s IGCSE class from September 2023 to June 2024
  • East “Voices with Refugees” GC adopted CSB as their NGO and assisted with PACE Quiz night
  • New Dover “CSB” GC formed spanning High School and Middle School
  • Three Project Week groups (1 East, 2 Dover)

Family & Parent Service Trips

  • UWCSEA families have visited CSB to paint walls & bookshelves, create murals, tutor students and engage through games and reading
  • Parent Service Trip in September to plant an edible garden, teach classes, play games and mentor students 
  • 8 parent-led workshops for CSB Secondary Students including Career Talk, Interview Skills, Time Management and Ikigai

Classrooms, transport, books and learning materials for 25 IGCSE students 29 IGCSE exam fees paid PACE Funds: $36,000

CSB Math and Science Teachers: 300+ Science Classes 400+ Math Classes 50+ Science experiments PACE Funds $24,000

CSB Graduates equipped for their journey to University in the Philippines PACE Funds: $4,300

30 Laptops donated by Standard Chartered, initiated by UWCSEA parents

Walk Through WWII Battlegrounds at Bukit Brown

The Battle of Singapore was fought from 8-15 February 1942. Though short, it was a week of intense fighting before the British surrendered Singapore to the Japanese forces. Meandering through Bukit Brown, an expansive beautiful park rich in heritage, join us on a guided walk that will take you back to one of the most turbulent times in Singapore! We are deeply honoured and thankful to Claire Leow, for guiding us and sharing her valuable knowledge with us on our Walk Through War Time Singapore. Clair has been a journalist for over 21 years and loves photography, community projects, travel and visiting historic sites.
